“StorySquad has an incredible ability to translate the lived experience of Kabuki syndrome into powerful, authentic storytelling. They not only captured the challenges our families face, but also the urgency and hope behind the Kabuki Syndrome Foundation’s mission to drive research forward. Their partnership elevated our gala program and helped us connect with our community in a deeply meaningful way.”
Kabuki Syndrome Foundation | “Living For Hope”
The creative intent behind Living for Hope was to present an honest, focused portrait of Kabuki syndrome by centering on two families whose experiences reflect broader community themes. With a condition as varied as Kabuki syndrome, narrowing the number of voices allowed the story to remain emotionally clear and cohesive. The film’s pacing moves deliberately from vulnerability to hope, connecting lived experience with the Foundation’s research progress. Graphic sequences open and close the film to support the live gala setting—settling the room at the start and reinforcing the message at the end. Throughout, the editorial approach prioritizes restraint, authenticity, and clarity, ensuring the story carries emotional weight while maintaining a forward-looking tone.
